Describing a business that markets and sells to consumers (think Apple).

The first step in any marketing campaign is to identify your buyer’s persona. For instance, you wouldn’t market children’s books to 50-75–year–old males. Sure, there will be the one-off buyer, but that persona isn’t your ideal audience.

Also, think about Apple’s marketing campaigns. Apple is a trillion-dollar company, and where would it be today without its marketing strategy? It has a prominent brand personality that is simple, yet powerful.

B2C marketers also tend to focus on the power of storytelling. It’s a way for consumers to feel they can connect and relate to the business. They also find ways to show the humanity of the company. For example, McDonald’s has made a commitment to using sustainable beef and reducing the use of antibiotics in its meat. By being so transparent about their practices, consumers feel that it is a trustworthy company.
