A summary of your ideal buyer, based on market research, data, and hypothesis. The representation helps marketers define their ideal audience and helps salespeople determine lead quality.

In order to identify the persona of a buyer, you’d need to:

  1. Learn about your customers. Find out information such as their age, gender, income, who lives in the household, hobbies, education, employment, and so on. To do this, you can look at analytics data, survey existing customers, and speak with customer-facing employees.
  2. Find out how to segment your customers. The scenarios are specific to your situation, but the customers should be divided into groups representative of what you’re marketing for.

Buyer personas turn strangers into customers, and being able to use these to perfect your marketing channels is key to driving sales.
