Facebook Ads Library

The ad library provides advertising transparency by offering a comprehensive, searchable collection of all ads currently running from across Facebook apps and services, including Instagram.

What is the Facebook Ad Library and how do I search it?

The ad library is a place where you can search for ads that are running across Facebook apps and services. You can use it to get information about the ads you see.

For all ads, you can search for ads that are currently active on the Facebook apps and services.

For ads that are about issues, elections or politics, you can also search ads that are inactive. Transparency is a priority for us to help prevent interference in elections, so the ad library also shows you additional information about these ads, such as who funded the ad, a range of how much they spent, and the reach of the ad across multiple demographics. We store these ads in the library for 7 years. Read More

Do I need a Facebook account to use the ad library?

Anyone can explore the ad library, with or without a Facebook account. However, reporting ads and viewing adult content both require that you have an account and are logged in.

How are ads about social issues, elections or politics identified on Facebook?

When ads about social issues, elections or politics appear on Facebook apps and services, they're required to include information about who paid for them. An issue, electoral or political ad can be identified on Facebook by the Paid for by disclaimer. This disclaimer is followed by information about who paid for the ad. Read More

What ads can I search in the ad library?

You can search any ads currently running across Facebook apps and services, including Instagram, whether you've seen them or not.

How long does it take for an ad to show up in the ad library?

An ad will appear in the ad library within 24 hours from the time it gets its first impression. Any changes or updates made to an ad will also be reflected in the ad library within 24 hours.

How does Facebook decide which ads to show me?

We want the ads you see on Facebook to be as interesting and useful to you as possible. These are examples of things we use to decide which ads to show you:

  • Your activity on Facebook (such as liking a Page or clicking on ads you see).
  • Other information about you from your Facebook account (example: your age, your gender, your location, the devices you use to access Facebook).
  • Information advertisers, their partners, and our marketing partners share with us that they already have, like your email address.
  • Your activity on websites and apps off of Facebook. Learn more about how to turn this off in your ad settings.
